From September 30 to October 3, 2024, the 40th World Congress of IFRRO (International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations) took place in Quebec. Representing Kopipol, the Polish collective management organization for the copyright of scientific and technical creators, Dr. Anna-Maria Niżankowska-Horodecka, a partner at the law firm, participated in the Congress.
During the European Group meeting, she delivered a lecture on the implementation of Directive 2019/790 on copyright and related rights in the digital single market into Polish law. In her presentation, she focused particularly on issues related to the exception for text and data mining, including its applicability to training AI models, as well as challenges concerning extended collective licensing.
Additionally, during the meeting of the European Levy Forum, she presented a report on recent developments in Poland related to the collection of reprographic fees.
